About the position

Mantra Systems is a consultancy in the medical device regulatory industry, helping businesses worldwide achieve certification for their products.

Our new IT Support Engineer will help the business run its core processes through Microsoft 365 and our Helpdesk service, but also via continuous operation of our internal software systems.

The primary role will be working in a helpdesk environment providing technical support to employees & clients, while recording any logged incidents and queries within SLAs.

The secondary role will be supporting the IT Manager in the day-to-day technical jobs, which can include networking, server management, workstation setup and general systems monitoring.

This position is suited to a candidate with between 1 to 3 years first-line engineer experience looking to progress, learn new skills and take on more responsibility.

Key responsibilities

Helpdesk support
Provide technical support to staff, contractors, and clients via our helpdesk system (ServiceDesk Plus) in line with agreed SLAs.
System management
Maintain and monitor IT systems, devices, and software, while assisting the IT Manager with infrastructure, server, and network projects.
User management
Set up new user accounts, workstations, and devices.
Remote support
Support remote users securely and efficiently.
Asset management
Maintain accurate documentation and asset registers.

Essential requirements

IT support at Mantra Systems requires friendly people who enjoy solving colleagues' and clients' day-to-day computing issues.

  • At least 1-2 years experience in an IT support/ Helpdesk role
  • Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Suite (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, Intune)
  • Basic understanding of ITIL principles
  • Strong general IT literacy and a keenness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Based within commuting distance of Sheffield

Desirable skills

  • Knowledge of networking, DNS, DHCP, or firewalls
  • Exposure to Windows Server or Active Directory
  • Interest in cloud platforms like Microsoft 365 Suite
  • Experience with ticketing systems or IT asset management tools

This position will be office-based, working from the company HQ in Sheffield. While some home-working will be available, this role is not open to remote-only candidates.

Full training of our existing IT structure will be provided and the successful applicant will work alongside the IT Manager.
